Taser Training
Deputy Matt Carter with Washington County Sheriff’s Office provided Taser training to Officer MacKenzie Hewitt of the Baileyville Police Department. MacKenzie, also a student at Washington County Community College, allowed the other students in Criminal Justice to be part of her training and observe her being tased by the instructor as part of her taser certification. Deputy Carter is a Certified Taser Instructor. The class participated in the educational part of the training. The partnership WCCC has with the agencies provides a great opportunity for students to observe first hand the aspects of being in a law enforcement career.
Sgt. John Preston of the Baileyville PD and Detective Bill White from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and part time officer for Baileyville also attended the training to observe. Deputy Carter and Detective White are providing field training for Officer Hewitt.
Officer Hewitt is the Baileyville PD’s first full-time female officer.
