Students combine classroom learning, which rotates
through many different kinds of small
engines, along with working on equipment of their
own. WCCC also has various types of equipment for
students to work on.

replacing the crank case
on a Harley owned by the
school. Scott Wheelock, Welding
Program instructor, performed
the repairs on the aluminum
crank case.

Jordan is working on re-
building the engine in his ATV
after he blew it up for the second
time. He has diagnosed the
failure happend due to the
cylinder being too smooth
and the rings didn't break in
properly.
The cylinder will be re honed using a drill with a
honing attachment.

Medical Assisting Program Update
Second year medical assisting students are participating in their clinical cooperative practicum course this semester. The practicum course consists of placement at an ambulatory care facility for a minimum of 165-hours. Students obtain real life experience applying the cognitive, psychomotor and affective competencies learned in the classroom and lab. This year, students are placed at Eastport Healthcare, East Grand Health Center, and Passamaquoddy Health Center. Effort is made to place students at the facility of their choice.
WCCC Medical Assisting student Paige Sockabasin says “Passamaquoddy Health Center is allowing me hands-on experience in a healthcare setting. There is a lot of culture and tradition within the care provided and I learned a lot about that in my classes which has affected the way I have handled situations.”
WCCC Medical Assisting graduates are eligible to sit for the Certified Medical Assistant Exam (CMA) offered by the American Association of Medical Assistants. The CMA (AAMA) is the only medical assisting certification that requires graduation from a postsecondary medical assisting program accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE) or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
